Subject: Pubic Presentation of the GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in
Financial Reporting
The Finance Director will present the "Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial
Reporting" to the Mayor and City Council. The award is made by the Government Finance
Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). The Certificate of Achievement
for Excellence in Financial Reporting Award recognizes the City's 2007 Comprehensive Annual
Financial Report (CAFR) for conformance with strict program criteria.
This award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and
financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by the City's
government and its management. The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the
high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive ``spirit of frill disclosure''
to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read
the CAFR.
This is the 19t~' consecutive year the city has received this award.
