Rick Brausen will formally be appointed as Council Member with the resolution adoption. Overview: A vacancy was declared on the Hopkins City Council due to Jason Gadd being appointed Mayor. Based upon the interviews, the City Council reached a consensus to appoint Rick Brausen to fill the vacant seat. Mr. Brausen is eligible to be given the oath of office immediately upon the appointment and begin their term that will end on January 7, 2020. This fall Hopkins citizens will elect a Mayor and Council Members for terms starting on January 7, 2020. Filing for these elective offices opens on Tuesday, July 30 and closes on Tuesday, August 13 at 5:00 p.m. Candidates may withdraw their names from candidacy until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 17. The filing fee is $25.00. Primary Issues to Consider:  There are less than two years remaining in the term. A special election is not required. The appointment will be through January 7, 2020.
