02-04-2008 WSFebruary 4, 2008 Page 1 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION AT CONCLUSION OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING Monday, February 4, 2008 Mayor Maxwell called the meeting to order at 9:40 pm. Present were Mayor Maxwell and Council members Halverson, Brausen, Rowan and Youakim. City personnel present were City Manager Rick Getschow. Habitat for Humanity: The City Manager stated that Habitat will be making an offer for the lots and are very interested in building on the Harrison lots. The item to begin the approval process to support this project could be coming back at the February 19th City Council Meeting. Hennepin County HRA: City Manager stated that the Mayor and he had received a letter from the County HRA once again discussing support for the County HRA Levy. They will be moving ahead with the Legislative approval this session for the ability to levy in cities with HRA abilities. State 4f the City: City Manager Getschow stated that the State of the City is scheduled for Tuesday, March 18th from 4:30 to 6;30 p.m. and the council will begin planning that event soon. Citizens Academy: The City Manager and Council Members discussed the upcoming Citizens Academy and council members chose dates for which Academy event they will introduce. National League of Cities: City Manager Getschow stated that the deadline is soon approaching for the March congressional conference in Washington. Please let him know if there is any interest in attending. Fuel Purchases: Council member Brausen asked for further information on the cities fuel purchasing program. Excelsior Crossings: Council member Halverson asked about the council being able to get inside the new building. City Manager Getschow will follow-up and most likely schedule an event prior to a work session evening. February 12t" Work Session: City Manager Getschow stated that our legislatures will be in attendance for the February 12th Work Session. He is currently preparing a legislative agenda and will get a draft out to the council this week. One new item will be some special legislation that the city may need regarding the Opus/Cargill TIF district. With no further business, a motion was made by Halverson, seconded by Youakim to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 10:15 pm. Rick Getschow, Secretary ~
