II.2. Resolution Declaring a Vacancy on the City Council; Domeier November 26, 2019 Council Report 2019-118 RESOLUTION DECLARING A VACANCY ON THE HOPKINS CITY COUNCIL Proposed Action. Staff recommends that the Council approve the following motion: Approve Resolution 2019-092 Declaring a Vacancy on the Hopkins City Council. This action will allow the City Council to move ahead with the appointment of a Council Member to replace the vacant seat left by Council Member Rick Brausen. Overview: Council Member Brausen was declared the winner of the November 5, 2019 special election and is now eligible to take office. Council Member Brausen was appointed Council Member on March 6, 2019 for the remainder of Council Member Gadd’s term. The City Charter requires the City Council shall by resolution declare a vacancy to exist and shall appoint an eligible person to fill the same. Supporting Information:  Draft Resolution 2019-092 ________________________________________ Amy Domeier City Clerk CITY OF HOPKINS HENNEPIN COUNTY, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION 2019-092 RESOLUTION DECLARING A VACANCY ON THE HOPKINS CITY COUNCIL WHEREAS, Council Member Rick Brausen was elected by special election to a two-year term on November 5, 2019 creating a vacancy on the City Council; and WHEREAS, Section 2.05 of the Hopkins Charter provides that the City Council shall by resolution declare the City Council seat vacant.
