IV.5. Subordinate Funding Agreement 09 – Southwest LRT (Siren Relocation); ElverumOctober 6, 2020 Council Report 2020-071
SUBORDINATE FUNDING AGREEMENT 09– SOUTHWEST LRT (SIREN
RELOCATION)
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve Subordinate
Funding Agreement (SFA 09) between the City of Hopkins and the Metropolitan
Council.
With this motion the Subordinate Funding Agreement will be executed.
Overview
As part of the construction of SW LRT, a weather siren at 5th Street in Hopkins needed
to be relocated. The Metropolitan Council agreed to pay the cost of relocation but the
work was contracted by the City of Hopkins through the Fire Chief due to the City’s
ownership of the siren. The bid for the cost of the work is $7,692. The agreement adds
in a contingency of 4% bringing the total not to exceed amount to $8000.
The work was scheduled to take place on September 14, 2020, so the date of the
agreement reflects that date.
The Subordinate Funding Agreement provides for the reimbursement to the City of
Hopkins of the cost to relocate.
Primary Issues to Consider
The relocation of the siren was needed in order to facilitate construction of the SW LRT
line, while maintaining a siren for emergency notification.
