IV. BUSINESS
A. Promotigg Hopkins' Parks — 2021 Parks/Trails Passport Pro ram
Emma Figgins had provided each member a draft final version of the Hilltop Park outreach .pdf document for
review and comment. There was discussion on some final edits of the document, including some minor
changes to the Park Discovery section and adding information on the backside City map. Discussion then
turned to how the document would be advertised, how it would be made available and how public interaction
would work. The outreach document would primarily be advertised via facebook and there would be a link
on the Parks page of the City's website. A unique email address would be set up for public interaction and to
gauge interest in this initial program document. The Board's goal was to complete the document by February
so Emma will work to complete it this week. Steve and Meg will provide additional information to Emma for
the final version.
B. U of M student Capstone project reports
There was brief discussion on the recommendations of the report entitled: The City of Hopkins: Advancing
Park Equity and Accessibility. Stadler will provide each member with the full report and there will be more
discussion at a future meeting.
C. Other Topics of Interest
Steve Stadler reported that it's been good to see that there are many taking advantage of the City Parks'
outdoor skating rinks. Due to COVID restrictions, the warming houses are closed but there are rink -side
benches/tables at each rink. Also, the ice path was built around the general skate rink at Oakes Park.. It was
shared that there is a lot of sledding happening this year, as well, at several parks. All agreed that it was good
-2 -
to see that residents are getting outdoors and enjoying our parks this winter. Kyle mentioned that, at a future
meeting, along with reviewing recommendations from the U of M student Capstone reports on the parks, there
should also be a review of Park Board priorities for the upcoming year.
