First Reading Ordinance 2004-918, Ordinance Amending
Section 1200.46, Subd. 4. b. - Hours of Operation
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to adopt Ordinance 2004-
918, Ordinance Amendinq Section 1200.46 of the Hopkins City Code for First Readinq.
Overview
Last year, the City Council approved an ordinance that allows bars and restaurants to
extend the legal closing time for one hour to 2:00 a.m. The ordinance contained a
sunset clause for June 30, 2004. If the ordinance does not change, 2:00 a.m. closings
will end on June 30th.
This ordinance will allow the 2:00 a.m. closing to continue.
. Primary Issues to Consider
The Police Department has reviewed the issue and has found no reason to not
continue the 2:00 a.m. bar closing. Chief Reid stated that they have not experienced
increased activity and there are no concerns about parking.
