Re: Update On Acoustical Tre~tment of the Pavilion
After our last discussion on acoustics staff was directed to. research potentlal rentals and revenues
to help offsetthe expense of acoustic treatments. The only major potential renter identified was
the Hopkins Jaycees for their annual dances. Staff met with members of the Jaycees to discuss
the usage of the Pavilion by the Jaycees. Jaycees representatives decided to propose to their
. membership the use of the Pavilion on July 10th and 11 th, 2004 for the Jaycee dance activities.
That proposal was presented and voted on at the February 12,2004 Jaycee general membership
meeting. It was decided by the membership not to hold any Jaycee dance activities at the
Pavilion at this time. So at this time no sources of revenue to offset the cost of acoustical
treatments have been identified. Staff would like to propose the following actions for your
decision.
1. Take no action atthis time; but continue to look for a funding source 'for the project.
2. Utilize revenues from a city fund to pay for the acoustics.
3. . Ask the Jaycee Charitable Gambling Committee for a donation to offset the cost of
acoustics.
,I
Staffwas also instructed to provide the locations of facilities where the treatments proposed for
the Pavilion have 'been installed. Attach~d is a list of some ofthose locations.
