ENVIRONMENTAL GRANT APPLICATION Proposed Action: Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve Resolution 2004-084 supporting environmental financial grant application to Hennepin County by the Hopkins School District. Overview Hopkins School District #270 has been looking for a site to construct a school bus depot. The School District would like to explore the feasibility of constructing such a facility on the ih Street landfill in Hopkins. The landfill is owned by the City of Hopkins but is controlled by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA). The MPCA has agreed to let the School District exp lore the feasibility of placing the bus depot on the landfill. The School District is seeking a grant from Hennepin County to help fund a feasibility study, The District is the project applicant and will administer the grant. No city funding is being sought and no city administration of the grant is expected. Because of statutes governing the . county grant program, however, the governing body of the city in which the project resides must pass a resolution in support of the application. City of Hopkins Hennepin County, Minnesota RESOLUTION 2004-084 Whereas, Hopkins School District #270 desires to explore the possibility of constructing a School Bus Facility on the closed City of Hopkins Landfill, and Whereas, representatives of Hopkins School District #270 have had discussions with the City of Hopkins and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency regarding this project, and Whereas, MPCA has provided a positive response to the School District about the possibility of proceeding with such a project, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Hopkins supports the environmental financial grant application submitted to the Hennepin County Department of Environmental Services on November 1, 2004, by Hopkins School District #270 for the Hopkins Landfill site.
