APPROVE 2003 HOPKINS MUNICIPAL
EMPLOYEES' ASSOCIATION CONTRACT
Proposed Action
Staff recommends that the Council approve the following motion: Move approval of the 2003 Contract for
the Hopkins Municipal Employees' Association, HMEA.
This action will ratify the 2003 contract for the clerical and technical employees.
Overview
The contract calls for a 1.0% wage increase effective January 1,2003 and a 2.0% wage increase effective
June 29, 2003. The members ofHMEA will also receive an additional.IS per hour effective June 29, 2003.

The City budgeted 3% for cost of living adjustments and $10.00 per month for benefit increases. The
cost of the proposed wage settlement is approximately $9,000 less than was budgeted.

increases?
This settlement is the range of settlements for 2003.
Alternatives
1. Approve the contract. Retroactive pay and benefit increases will be included in the next payroll.
2. Do not approve the contract. Staff would have to renegotiate the contract.
