Council Report 2003-145
Award Contract for Bid Division 3 - Structural Steel Supply, Police Station Renovation
project to Thurnbeck Steel Fabrication, Inc. '
Proposed Action.
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move that Council adopt
Resolution 2003-087. resolution to award steel fabrication and supplv contract. Police
Station renovation proiect. to Thurnbeck Steel Fabrication. Inc.
Overview.
In July/August 2003 the city publicly advertised for bids on the police station renovation
project. On August 12, 2003 City Council awarded contracts for the police station
renovation project. However, no bids were received for bid division 3, structural steel
metal fabrication supply. This public bidding process met the requirements of State law
for public construction. The city's construction manager then solicited bids for the work
directly from several contractors - these bids were opened on Friday, September 19.
There were three bids submitted and the low bid of $72,223.00 was received from
Thurnbeck Steel Fabrication, Inc. The project budget for this work was $75,000.00.
Kraus-Anderson and city staff is recommending City Council accept their bid.
