Approve Liquor License Application for
819 Main Street, Inc. dba Hopkins Tavern on Main
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve an on-sale liauor
license. an off-sale Iiauor license. a Sunday liauor license. a tobacco sales license. a
limited food license. and five amusement device licenses for 819 Main Street. Inc. dba
Hopkins Tavern on Main with the condition that a certificate of insurance showino liauor
liabilitv is submitted.
Overview
Mitch Batinich is in the process of selling Mitch's Tavern. Steve and Jane Benowitz are
purchasing the business and building. The new name of the building will be Hopkins
Tavern on Main. The Benowitz.operate two other liquor establishments in the metro
area. They are "331 Club" in Minneapolis and "The Bar" in Hastings.
The applicant will also be obtaining a limited food license, a tobacco license, and
amusement device licenses. Tobacco sales will be completed from behind the bar.
A Certificate of insurance has not been submitted atthe time of the writing of this
report.
The police have investigated the parties and have found no reason to deny the license.
