On August 8, 2001, the City Council approved the first reading to rezone the Knox site
from Industrial to Business Park. Lonny Thomas, the attorney representing Knox,
appeared before the Council and asked that the rezoning be continued to allow Knox
more time. The rezoning was continued.
Since the first reading, Supervalu expressed an interest in the property and now has
determined they will not purchase the property.
Attached is Ordinance 01-858 for second reading.
The City Council's action is to approve the ordinance for second readina and order the
ordinance published.
If the City Council determines that the site should be left as industrial, the
Comprehensive Plan will be amended to industrial.

ORDINANCE NO. 01-858
AN ORDINANCE REZONING THE KNOX SITE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HOPKINS DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
That the present zoning classification of 1-2, General Industrial, upon the following
described premises is hereby repealed, and in lieu thereof the said premises is hereby zoned as
Business Park.
Lot 5 and that part of Lot 4 Auditor's Subdivision No. 195 Hennepin County, Minnesota and that
part of the Southwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 24 Township 117 Range 22
and that part of the Northwest Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of Section 25 Township 117
Range 22, all described as beginning at the Northwest comer of said Lot 4; thence South to the
Southwest corner of said Lot 4, thence East along the South line of said Lot 4 to the
Southeasterly line thereof; thence Northeasterly along the Southeasterly line of said Lot 4 to its
intersection with a line drawn parallel to and 33 feet West from the East line of said Southwest
Quarter of the Southeast Quarter; thence North along said parallel line to the most Northerly
comer of said Lot 5 thence Southwesterly to the point of beginning except that part of said Lot 4
lying Southwesterly of a line and its Southeasterly extension drawn from a point in the
Northwesterly line of said Lot distant 990.02 feet Northeasterly of the Northwest corner of said
Lot to a point in the Southeasterly line of said Lot a distance 1360.84 feet Northeasterly of the
most Southerly comer of Block 38, West Minneapolis
