2000 BITUMINOUS STREET OVERLAY

Proposed Action.
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: "Move that Council adopt
Resolution 2000 -27. Resolution for Award of Bid. Bituminous Street Overlay. Project
99-13 ".
Overview.
In the 2000 - 2094 Hopkins CIP staff recommended and Council approved a street
milVoverlay project for the year 2000. The streets under consideration at the time of CIP
adoption were 11 th Avenue from Mainstreet to 1 st Street North and 9th Avenue from
Mainstret:t to County Rd 3. Staff reconsidered the 11 th Avenue segment in light of
pending Lot 500 upgrades and substituted 15th Avenue from Mainstreet to its end instead.
A bid opening was held March 30 and Council needs to act on the award of contract.

Five bids were received, tabulated and reviewed for accuracy and qualifications. The
low bidder was Ideal Paving ofHetiderson, Inc., a firm from HendersoQ., Minnesota.
Staff carefully reviewed Ideal's references and was given very positive feed back.
The contractor has the equipment and manpower to complete the project successfully.
Staff recommends award of bid to Ideal Paving of Henderson, Inc.
. Funding
.
Funding for this project is proposed to be from general revenues through the PIR
Fund. Utility repairs will be funded out ofthe Storm Sewer, Water and Sanitary
Sewer Funds.

CITY PROJECT 99-13
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HOPKINS MINNESOTA that the bid of Ideal Paving of Henderson, Inc. in the
amount of $84,699.24 is the lowest responsible bid for bituminous mill and overlay
of 9th Avenue from Mainstreet to County Road 3 and 15th Avenue from Mainstreet
to end, City Project 99-13, and,
BE IT FUR TIlER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Manager are hereby
authorized and directed to enter into a contract with said bidder for and on behalf
of the City.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Hopkins this 4th day of April 2000.
