Date: April 11 r 2000
Subject: Ordinance 2000-839
The recommended action is to approve Ordinance 2000-839 for second readinq and
order publication.
The definition of Lodging House in Section 1170.01 of the Hopkins City Code is in
conflict with the definition in The Uniform Building and Fire Codes. Both the
. Uniform Codes have been adopted by the City and incorporated into the City Code.
We are obligated by the State of Minnesota to enforce the Uniform Codes and
cannot make changes to any of the definitions therein. If we want uniformity in the
definitions, Section 1170.01 is where we have to make the change.
