APPOINTMENT OF COUNCIL MEMBER
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to adopt Resolution 2000-08,
appointing Richard A. Brausen. 47 - 20th Avenue North. to the City Council.
Overview
At the City Council's January 4, 2000 Council meeting, a vacancy on the City Council
was declared due to the election of Council member Maxwell to the Mayor's seat.
According to the City Charter the City Council is to appoint an individual to complete
unexpired terms on the City Council.
During the latter part of December the City Council requested applications from
residents and received 22 applications. The Council paired the list down to six
individuals who were interviewed on January 25. Based upon those interviews, the City
Council reached a consensus to appoint Mr. Brausen to fill the vacant seat.
Staff is now recommending that the Council complete the process by formally
tit appointing Mr. Brausen to the City Council.
Primary Issues to Consider
. When will Mr. Brausen's term begin?
Mr. Brausen is eligible to be given the oath of office immediately upon
receiving this appointment and would begin his term thereafter.
