CR 2000-086 Fire Staion Roof Replacement . . . , y o v " o P K \ ~ 5-11-2000 Council Report 2000-86 FIRE STATION ROOF REPLACEMENT Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move that Council award bid for the Fire Station Roof Replacement to PALMER WEST CO. for the amount of $45.320 Overview In the year 2000 CIP staff budgeted $60.000 for the replacement of the Fire Station Roof. The existing roof is 35 years old and is in need of replacement. As part of the project the existing 1 % in wood fiber insulation will be replaced with 4 to 6 inches of insulation to bring the roof above the minimum code for insulation. Analysis of Issues . Staff Recommendation Twelve Bids were received, tabulated and reviewed for accuracy and qualifications. The low bidder was Palmer West Construction Co. from Rogers, MN. Staffhas reviewed Palmer West reference and determined that they have the experience, equipment and manpower to complete the project successfully. Staff recommends award of bid to Palmer West Construction Co. · Funding . City staff Budgeted $60,000 for replacement of the Fire Station Roof. The Bid amount of $45,320 plus engineering costs of $4800 To INSPEC INC. Bring the total anticipated cost to $50,121 or $9,879 below budget. Overview The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. An Award of Financial Reporting Achievement has been awarded to the individuals, department or agency designated by the government as primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning CAFR. This has been presented to Lori K Yager, Finance Director. The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR. The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 13,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, Illinois, and Washington, D.C.
