Also included is a listing of activities taking place in February commemorating W3 Love Our Kids Month, including the Family Winter Fun Day sponsored by the Hopkins/lvlinnetonka Recreation Services Department. This is the second year, the city of Hopkins has sponsored and organized the Caring Youth Awards, along with the cities 01' Minnetonka and Golden Valley, and the Hopkins and Minnetonka School Districts. The Cclring Youth Awards are design:ld to honor young people who unselfishly have been involved in a cause or situation benefiting others. This year's awards ceremony is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at the Minnetonka Community Center. This year's emcee is Ron Axel, who also is serving as honorary chair for We love Our Kids Month. The keynote speaker is Sen. Ember Reichgott Junge. Friday Night Live Friday, Feb. 7 Eisenhower COllnmunity Center Information: 988-4080 Friday Night Live is a night of fun activities for 5th and 6th graders, including music, games, food and friends. Caring Youth Awards Thursday, Feb. 13 6:30 p.m. Minnetonka Community Center Information: 939-1350 The Caring Youth Awards honor youth in our community who unselfish- ly have given outstanding service to others. The awards are sponsored by the cities of Golden Valley, Hopkins and Minnetonka, and the Hopkins School District 270 4 'R Youth Initiative, and Minnetonka School District 276 Our Community/Our Youth Initiative. Teen Trek Monday, Feb. 17 Tuesday, Feb. 18 Information: 988-4080 Teen Trek is a personal challenge retreat for junior high youth, using adventure courses and team building, which is sponsored by Hopkins School District 270 and the Ridgedale YMCA. Parent Education Conference Saturday, Feb. 22 Eisenhower Community Center Information: 988-4066 Family Winter Fun Sunday, Feb. 23 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Minnetonka Community Center Minnetonka Ice Arena Williston Center Information: 939-8203 The Family Winter Fun Day is spon- sored by the Hopkins/Minnetonka Recreation Services Department. The afternoon of activities is free; however, participants are asked to bring dona- tions for the local food shelf. Specific times still are being deter- mined, but activities tentatively sched- uled for the Minnetonka Community Center include the Zoo Mobile, activity fair, jugglers, K-9 demonstration, bingo, mini golf, movies and popcorn, Wonder Weavers story tellers, dog sled rides, hay rides and snow shoeing. Activities at the Williston Center include a basketball hoop shoot, open swimming, batting cage and tennis competition. Free public skating from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Minnetonka Ice Arena.
