Speed Survey - 17th Ave. No.
As requested, the police -department -GGRducteda speed survey between the 100-and
400 blocks of 17th Ave. No. The survey was done in three (3) one hour blocks during
the course of 2 business days. The results of the survey are as follows:
A total of 920 vehicles were targeted with radar. The average speed of all vehicles
targeted was 30.6 miles per hour.
Of the 920 targeted vehicles, 614 were traveling between 28 mph and 33 mph. This
accounts for approximately 67% of the vehicles.
75 vehicles (8.1%) were targeted at speeds from 36 mph through 39 mph. 14 vehicles
(1.5%) obtaine~ speeds above 40 mph. The top speed observed was 45mph (1
vehicle).
146 vehicles (15.8%) were observed traveling at speeds under 28mph. Lowest
sustained speeQ was 20mph.
Speed data observed was very consistent during all 3 time periods surveyed.
BasEld upon the observations ,of the police {Iepartment m this survey as well as dUfmg
oUf'regu1ar day to day patrols, it does not appear that excessive speed is a significant
problem in this area.
