Staff recommends the following motion: Move that Council adoot Resolution 97-16. Resolution Aoorovina petition for Fire Protection Svstem. 10889 Excelsior Boulevard. Adoption of this resolution will provide funding for a private sprinkler system, Overview, The owner of property at 10889 Excelsior Boulevard has provided additional fire protection at his place of business, This was undertaken because expanded and modified use of the existing building required meeting current building codes, The owner wishes to finance the cost of this project under the city's fire protection program in which funds are available to commercial properties for such protection, The owner has submitted a petition and proposal that totals $15,150,00, The owner completed a similar project under this program two years ago at the same address. Minnesota Statute 429 permits installation of fire safety related devices and equipment to be installed and assessed to benefited properties. Raab President FALCON FIRE PROTECTION, INC. eBR/pm CITY OF HOPKINS Hennepin County, Minnesota RESOLUTION 97-16 RESOLUTION APPROVING PETITION FOR A FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM 10889 EXCELSIOR BOULEVARD WHEREAS, the owner of property located at 10889 Excelsior Boulevard, Hopkins, Minnesota, has petitioned for an improvement consisting of the installation of a fire protection system pursuant to Minnesota Statute No, 429,031, Subd, 3; and WHEREAS, the petition and accompanying documents thereto comply with the requirements of the aforementioned statute, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HOPKINS, MINNESOTA: 1, Such improvement is hereby ordered as proposed and requested in the petition, 2, That the Engineering Superintendent and Fire Marshal be directed to review and approve the plans and specifications accompanying the petition for the construction and installation of the fire protection system, 3, That said installation and construction be in conformance with Minnesota Statute Chapter 429 and all state and municipal codes, ordinances and regulations pertaining thereto, 4, That periodic inspections be conducted by the City of Hopkins to assure compliance with said codes and requirements, Adopted by the City Council of the City of Hopkins this 4th day of March, 1997.
