Attached is Ordinance 97-800 that will vacate the alleys behind the 8th and Mainstreet
development.
The Citv Council's action is to approve Ordinance 97-800 for second readina and order
it published.

ORDINANCE VACATING A PORTION OF TIIE ALLEYS ON TIIE
NORTIIEAST CORNER OF MAINSTREET AND 8TH AVENUE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HOPKINS DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
That the following described area of the following public alley in the City of Hopkins,
namely:
That part of the East-West alley in Block 66, WEST MINNEAPOLIS SECOND
DMSION, Hennepin County, Minnesota, which lies East of the west line of said
Block 66, extended across said alley, and which lies West of the southerly
extension of the West line of Lot 6;
and, That part of the North-South alley in Block 66, WEST MINNEAPOLIS
SECOND DMSION, Hennepin County, Minnesota which lies North of a line
from the southeast corner of Lot 13 to the southwest corner of Lot 6, and which
lies Southerly of a line from the northwest corner of said Lot 6 to the northeast
corner of Lot 16.
be and the same is hereby vacated as a public alley, provided that a perpetual public drainage and
utility easement are reserved and retained by the City of Hopkins over, under, and across all of the
above described vacated alley.

PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, in 1872, J. Sterling Morton proposed to the Nebraska Board of Agriculture
that a special day be set aside for the planting of trees, and
WHEREAS, this holiday, called Arbor Day, was first observed with the planting of more
than a million trees in Nebraska, and
WHEREAS, Arbor Day is now observed throughout the nation and the world, and
WHEREAS, the quality ofli1e and the beauty of Hopkins, is enhanced by the presence of
trees, and
WHEREAS, trees contribute to the environmental and psychological well-being of
Hopkins and enrich our lives in so many ways, and
WHEREAS, The City of Hopkins has been named "Tree City USA" for 18 consecutive
years,
NOW THEREFORE, I Charles D. Redepenning, Mayor of the CITY of Hopkins,
Minnesota, do hereby proclaim April 25th, 1997 as Arbor Day and the Month of May as
Arbor Month and to urge citizens to become more aware of the importance of trees to the
well being of our City and to participate in the tree planting programs which will ensure a
green Hopkins in the decades to come.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I set my hand and cause the Great Seal of the
City of Hopkins to be affixed this 15th day of April, 1997
