CR 99-225 Fire Lane Designation For The Westbrooke Patio Homes \ i Y 0 U -" :m: December 10, 1999 o P K \ ~ CR Report 99-225 Fire Lane Designation for the Westbrooke Patio Homes Proposed Action Staff recommends approval of the following motion: Move to adopt Resolution No 99-113 designating new fire lanes for the Westbrooke Patio Homes. Overview The Westbrooke Patio Home property has recently installed new streets. curbs, and gutters. Their management has requested we up-date our fire lane designations to include the curb areas. These areas were not included in the original fire lanes designated in 1987. The new curbs make the streets an more inviting place to park. This project is designed so that all parking of vehicles is in driveways or specifically designated parking lots. The streets are too narrow for on street parking. For the Police Department to enforce parking restrictions on private roadways it must be designated a fire lane by City Council resolution. Westbrooke Patio Home management has met with the Fire Marshal. They both agree with the designations on the attached map. Primary Issues to Consider o Is this fire lane necessary? Yes. If cars are allowed to park of these streets fire trucks will be blocked from getting in.
