Council Report 99-144
Approve Final Payment
1999 Alley Reconstruction Project
Proposed Action.
Staff recommends adoption ofthe following motion: Move that Council adopt Resolution
99-067. Resolution Accepting Work and Ordering Final Payment. 1999 Allev
Improvements.
Overview.
The contractor has completed work associated with reconstruction of alleys in the 400
block between 14th/15th Avenues North and the 300 block between 12th/13th Avenues
North. The contractor has performed on punch list items to the City's satisfaction.
Primary Issues to Consider.
. Accepting work and final payment
The contractor has met his contract work obligations. The work is done
satisfactorily. The total construction contract cost, including the net swn
compensating change orders, amounted to $71,307.12. This compares to the
original estimated cost of $77, 400.00 in the project feasibility report of
January 5, 1999. By approving final payment Council will have approved
compensating change orders totaling $6,556.52. These changes pertain to
contract quantities in excess of what was originally estimated and do not
reflect any ,major changes in project scope.
. Procedures
Documents still needed are final lien waivers, IC-134 withholding forms and
a signed Certificate of Final Completion. The contractor is currently gathering
that documentation. Staff recommends approval of final payment with a check
tendered upon receipt of the above forms.
. Resolution 99-067
Adoption of this resolution formally acknowledges completion of work, orders
final payment and initiates a specified warranty period on the contract work.
