Memorandum

Date: Dec. 1, 1997

Subject: HAAA Lease, Hopkins Center for the Arts
My notes indicate that the Council asked the HAAA representatives to attend the Dec. 9
Council work session to resolve three remaining issues:
1. Deadline for hiring staff. Council would like to see HAAA hire a staff person.
HAAA representatives agreed to set a deadline for the hiring. HAAA should report
that deadline to the Council. Council members may wish to make the hiring a
condition of the lease.
2. Display cases. Some Council members would like them to be common, i. e.,
controlled by the facility manager and operations board. HAAA would like the
display cases to be considered part of the gallery, at least during HAAA's use times
in the gallery.
3. Gallery hours. Council members wish to ensure that the gallery will be open to the
public for a sufficient number of hours and during high traffic times when HAAA is
using the gallery. Council members would like to require that the gallery hours be
posted. Some Council members may ask that the lease require that the gallery,
during HAAA's use times, be open for certain hours. They may press HAAA to
agree to keep the gallery open during all CPTC performances, and/or for regular
hours every week.
