APPOINTMENT OF MAYOR PRO TEMPORE
Staff recommends approval of the following motion: Move to approve Mayor pro
tempore.
The Hopkins City Charter requires that a Mayor Pro Tempore be appointed at the
first meeting of the new year after an election. The Mayor Pro Tempore acts as
the presiding officer and as Acting Mayor of the Council in the absence of the
Mayor.
• Who should serve as the Mayor Pro Tempore
Traditionally the Council Member who has served the longest is chosen.
Both Council Member Maxwell and Council Member Hesch have served
since 1993.
