MINUTES OF 'THE CITY COiJNCIL WORK SESSION
A'T CONCLUSION OF 'TIIE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
'Tuesday, October 21, 2008
Mayor Maxwell called the meeting to order at 9:10 pm. Present were Mayor Maxwell and Council
members Halverson, Brausen, Rowan, Youakim and City Manager Rick Getschow
Other:
City Manager Getschow stated that there had been complaints about garbage on properties on Oxford
Street. He stated that the City has sent notices and in some cases given citations to property owners for
the garbage on Oxford. It is a feeling of the City Staff that we need to be aggressive on property
maintenance especially in this area and that this issue has arisen in the past. For example, the last time
the City received a garbage complaint we swept the street within 2 days. The longer term solution
needs to deal with the cooperation of the property owners.
The annual employee recognition luncheon is planned for Wednesday, October 22nd.
The Citizen Academy Alumni event is planned for Thursday evening, October 30tH
City Manager Getschow stated that he had spoken with a resident about raccoons and squirrels that are
sometimes fed by property owners. The current best approach will be to put information on the website
and in the newsletter about the concerns with feeding these animals.
City Manager Getschow stated that the current owner of the Mayon Pastic site will be coming forward
with a site plan review in November.
Council member Brausen discussed his attendance at a recent Hopkins Historical Society meeting. A
property he owns was designated for receiving an historic property award.
Council member Rowan will not be in attendance at the October 28th work session.
Council member Halverson asked about the next CERT training session. She had seen sign-ups at the
Raspberry Festival and the fire open house and wondered where the waiting list was at and when the
next program will be. City Manager Getschow will check and have the Fire Chief update the Council.
With no further business, a motion was made by Brausen, seconded by Halverson to adjourn the meeting. The
motion passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 9:45 pm.
