SPECIAL MEETING PROCEEDINGS
JANUARY 16, 2024
CALL TO ORDER
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a special meeting of the Hopkins City Council was
held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. at the Hopkins Activity Center, 33 14th
Avenue N.
Mayor Hanlon called the meeting to order with Council Members Balan, Garrido,
Goodlund and Hunke attending. Others attending included City Manager Mornson, City
Clerk Domeier, Director of Planning and Development Elverum, Finance Director Bishop,
and Special Projects and Initiatives Manager Imihy Bean. Members of the Hopkins
Historical Society that were present included Same Stiele, Jim Zdrazil, Kathleen Conroy,
Joan Roth, Marlene Dvorak, Kathy Jorgenson, Kat Downs and Mary Romportl .
DISCUSSION
II.1. Communications Strategy Discussion on 907 Mainstreet
The Hopkins Historical Society (HHS) representatives shared their concerns about
financing, fundraising and operations. The city will work with the HHS to discuss the next
phase at 907 Mainstreet. An option would be to have an agreement for storage at 907
Mainstreet in the interim and staff develop a plan of action for next steps. HHS requested
future storage options if available. Discussion was held regarding the communication
strategy for the Hopkins Historical Society’s from the 907 Mainstreet property . The
communication strategy will be worked on over the next 90 days.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the City Council, and upon a motion by
Hanlon the meeting was unanimously adjourned at 5:55 p.m.
