-
Memorandum
To: Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council
From: Steven C. Mielke, City Manager
Date: December 4, 1998
Subject: Presentation of Report - County Roads 73 and 5 Task Force
The County Road 73 and 5 task force has been meeting since June of this year. The
purpose of the task force is "To create a Hopkins response to issues surrounding the
area of Minnetonka Boulevard (County Road 5) and Hopkins Crossroads (County Road
73)."
Task force members include Ed Anderson, Tom Hance, Jerry Lavin, Jeanne Searles,
Ross Bartz, Fran Hesch, Chuck Redepenning, and Herman Strauch. Staff members to
e the task force are Steve Mielke, City Manager; Steve Stadler, Public Works Director;
and Jim Liddy, Police Captain. During the discussions by the task force, it was deemed
necessary and appropriate to enlist the services of Bill Smith and Tim Griffin of Biko and
Associates.
The task force has largely completed its task, and is now prepared to present a report
to the Council that outlines in detail the task force's efforts to meet its purpose.
Members of the task force will be in attendance at the work session, as well as
representatives from Biko and Associates, to present the report and outline the findings
from the task force.
As the facilitator for this effort, I am very pleased with the efforts of the task force, and
the product they are presenting to the City Council. The task force represented various
constituencies throughout the community, maintained a positive approach to the issues,
and was flexible in its approach to solving this long-term community problem.
Commendations are in order for all of the members of the task force.
