DESIGNA TION OF INTERIM CITY ENGINEER
Proposed Action.
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move that Council adopt Resolution 95-15,
Resolution for Designation of Interim City Engineer.
Overview.
The position of City Engineer/Public Works Director has been vacant since the beginning of the
year. Plans are for the position to be filled by Spring 1995. In the meantime, the City needs to
conduct business that requires certain professional qualifications and state registration. This is
especially the case in conducting proj ect administration of state aid projects. Staff is
recommending an interim engineer to fill the City's needs until the position is filled permanently.
Primarv Issues to Consider.
0 Who can best represent the City?
. Bolton and Menk served as a consultant to the City on the Oakridge South Street
Improvement Project and performed commendably. The same firm has designed the
currently proposed frontage road detachment at T.H. 7. This is an M.S.A. project, and as
such, it is mandatory for the City to have a designated, registered engineer on Staff It
seems prudent to name this firm to that position when it already is acquainted with the
work remaining to be done.
0 What is the cost?
Bolton and Menk will bill the City according to its current fee schedule, the same schedule
attached to the frontage road project.
