APPOINTMENT OF ELECTION JUDGES
Proposed Action:
staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move that the
followinq persons be appointed to serve as Election Judges for
the Municipal Election to be held on November 7. 1995. and set
the waqe at $7.00 per hour for Chair Judges and $6.50 per hour
for Election Judges.
overview:
state statute requires that Election Judges for precincts in a
municipality be appointed by the governing body of the
municipality. The governing body is also required to fix the
wage of those Election Judges.
The Chair Judges have served in that capacity previously and have
been chosen for their experience. They are responsible for
submitting to the Deputy Clerk the names of those who will work
under them. The city provides training for all who are
appointed.
The number of judges posted to each polling place is determined
by state statute.
