CR 95-225 Gambling License Hopkins ElksNovember 30, 1995 Proposed Action Staff recommends that the Council approve the following motion: Move that the Hopkins City Council adopt Resolution #95 -116 approving the gambling license application of the Hopkins Elks. Adoption of this motion will allow the application to be considered by the Minnesota Department of Gaming. Overview The Hopkins Elks have requested a renewal of their gambling license for 1996 and 1997. This license allows them to conduct gambling at 30 8th Avenue South. Primary Issues to Consider Does this application meet the criteria of the City's gambling policy? Yes. Has the organization conducted its past gambling activities in accordance with state and local laws? Yes. Alternatives: 1. Approve Resolution #95 -116. This will result in the application being considered by the Department of Gaming. 2. Do not approve the Resolution. This will result in the Department of Gaming turning down the license. Genellie City Clerk Council Report 95 -225 WHEREAS, the Hopkins Elks have been an integral part of the Hopkins Community, and WHEREAS, the Hopkins Elks have applied for a gambling license to conduct lawful gambling in 1996 and 1997, and WHEREAS, the Hopkins Elks have conducted gambling activities in accordance with state law and Hopkins city policy, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Hopkins hereby approves the Hopkins Elks Premises Permit Renewal application.
