NATIONAL PARENTING ASSOCIATION
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion Move to adopt Resolution # 94-33
which expresses support for the qoals and vision statement of the National ParentinQ
Association.
The National ParentIng Association is a newly formed group whose efforts are intended
I to support and foster the development of families.
The Association includes membership from across the nation and is intended to be a
voice for issues relevant to and in support of families across the nation.
The City Council has discussed the vision statement and the goals of the National Par-
enting Association and expressed its desIre to support the efforts of the National Par-
enting Association to attain the goals within the vision statement of the Association.
Therefore, staff is recommending the adoption of Resolution 94-33.

0 Is this Resolution a support for the National Parenting Association?
The Resolution is intended to support of the National Parenting Association and the
goals and vision statement they have adopted. This is not necessarily an endorsement
of the National Parenting Association.
0 What will be done with the Resolution?
If adopted, staff will forward the Resolution to the Minnesota Parenting Association, the
National Parenting Association and the League of Minnesota Cities as an expression of
our support for the goals of the Association.

RESOLUTION NUMBER 94-33
RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE
NATIONAL PARENTING ASSOCIATION
WHEREAS, children are 100% of the future for all of us, and
WHEREAS, education is the most important predictor of self sufficiency and future
success, and
WHEREAS, parents are the first, ongoing and most influential educators of their chil-
dren, and
WHEREAS, the National Parenting Association is a nonprofit, bipartisan membership
driven organization, dedicated to creating a society which cherishes chil-
dren by providing education, support and, a "voice" for families.
e NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Hopkins, Minnesota
shares the vision of the National Parenting Association and supports the
Association's efforts to attain the goals within its vision statement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be given the authority to forward
this resolution to the National Parenting Associati.on, Minnesota Parent-
ing Association and the League of Minnesota Cities.
