August 10, 1994 o P K \ ~ Council Report 94-152 RESOLUTION APPROVING SPECIAL LEGISLATION RE: HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE SUBDISTRICTS Proposed Action. Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: "Resolution No. 94-75 approving of special law as recorded in the Laws of Minnesota. Chapter 375. Article 14. section 21." Overview Last year, the city received approval of legislation allowing the city to create a hazardous substance subdistrict on the Hopkins Teeh Center, Napeo, and other adjacent property. The intent of this legislation was to provide the city a tool to facilitate the financing of environmental remediation, should it be required on these properties. In conjunction with the approval of this legislationr the City . is required to adopt a resolution approving and accepting the special legislation. As the City council has previously gone on record authorizing staff to solicit such legislation, the action as presently proposed is only a required formality. CITY OF HOPKINS Hennepin County, Minnesota RESOLUTION NO: 94-75 RESOLUTION APPROVING OF SPECIAL LAW AS RECORDED IN THE LAWS OF MINNESOTA, CHAPTER 375, ARTICLE 14, SECTION 21 WHEREAS, the Hopkins city council has previously taken action in support of special legislation to allow the city of Hopkins or its Housing and Redevelopment Authority to create one or more hazardous substance subdistricts within certain parts of the City as detailed in the Laws of Minnesota, Chapter 375, Article 14, section 21, Subdivision 1; and WHEREAS, the area identified within the legislation for creation of a hazardous substance subdistrict may contain environmental pollution or contamination; and WHEREAS, the creation of a hazardous substance subdistrict will allow for a funding source to facilitate environmental clean-up from the State. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City . of Hopkins hereby approves the special law as recorded in the Laws of Minnesota, Chapter 375, Article 14, Section 21.
