This action will continue the process of amending Section 340 of the Hopkins City Code. This ordinance will expand the number of members of the Hopkins Human Rights CommissIon. . e -----.---.-- - e CITY OF HOPKINS COUNTY OF HENNEPIN ORDINANCE NO. 94-736 AN ORDINAN"CE Clli\NGING THE Ca1PQSITION OF THE HUMAN RIGHTS CCMMISSION The City Council of the City of Hopkins does hereby ordain: SECTION 1. That Section 340, Human Rights Conunission, be amended to read as follows: 340.03 Establishment and Composition. There is hereby reestablished a Human Rights Commission of the City of Hopkins. The Commission shall be com- posed of at least nine and no more than fifteen members for three year terms. Scven members A maj ori ty of members shall be residents of Hopkins, Gnd tHO mcmbers may reside cl:JC1:,..hcrc but ..;ork in Hopkins. In addition, two students from Hopkins High School who live in Hopkins, may be appointed for a 1 year term. Members shall be appointed by the City Council. 340.05 Terms. Members of the Human Rights Commission shall be appointed for terms of three years. Terms shall expire on January 31st of each year provided that one-third of the first Human Rights Commission shall be com- prised of -E-fl-.E-ee membe r s whose terms expire on January 31, 1995, -E-fl-.E-ee 0 n e - third of members whose terms expire on January 31. 1996, and ~~ one-third . of members whose terms expire on January 31, 1997. Upon expiration of a term of office, the members shall continue to serve until a successor is appointed and qualified. Members shall serve no more than two consecutive terms. Mem- bers may be renominated after being off the Commission for one year. SECTION 2. The effective date of this ordinance shall be twenty days after publication.
