Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: "Move to adopt Resolution 94-85. Resolution for award of Bid. Maetzold Field Turf Irriqation System." Overview. Bids for 1994 Maetzold Field Improvements were authorized by Council on April 19, 1994. Bids were opened on September 14, 1994 for the above referenced project. Seven bids were received and are tabulated below. The low bidder was Midland Nursery, Inc. BIDDER TOTAL BID Midland Nursery, Inc. 32,830 Aqua Engineering, Inc. 33,471 Green Acres sprinkler Co. 36,735 e Albrecht Co. 36,842 Innovative Irrigation 37,990 Mickman Bros. 38,893 Irrigation by Design 39,000 Engineer's Estimate $40,000 The city's consultant MTI Distributing Co. has prepared the design layout and has reviewed the specifications. Staff has reviewed the contractor's qualifications and past experience and finds them acceptable. Staff is therefore recommending that the City award the contract to Midland Nursery, Inc. Midland Nursery, Inc. is a qualified bidder with the necessary equipment and personnel to complete the project. 0 Is the bid reasonable? The bid is reasonable and competitive. The low bid is less than what was anticipated by the City's engineer. The low bid is $641 less than the second low bid and $7,170 lower than the engineers estimate. 0 How will this project be funded? The project will be funded from general fund revenues as identified in the 1993-1997 CIP. 0 When will construction begin? CITY OF HOPKINS ~ Hennepin County, Minnesota RESOLUTION NO. 94-85 RESOLUTION FOR BID AWARD MAETZOLD FIELD TURF IRRIGATION SYSTEM PROJECT NO 94-05 WHEREAS, bids were received for the Park Improvements on september 14, 1994; and WHEREAS, seven bids were received and the bid of Midland Nursery, Inc. in the amount of $32,830 is the lowest reasonable bid for this project. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city Council of the city of Hopkins, Minnesota that the Mayor and city Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with Midland Nursery, Inc. for and on behalf of the city. e Adopted by the city council of the city of Hopkins this 20th day of September, 1994.
