Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to appoint Mavor Charles Redepen-
ninq as the votinq deleqate and Council member Fran Hesch as the alternate votinq deleqate
to the National Leaque of Cities annual Conqress of Cities.
Adoption of this motion will enable the City Manager to inform the National League of Cities of
the City's choice of voting and alternate delegates.
Overview
The National League of Cities annual business meeting will be held Sunday, December 4,
1994 at the Congress of Cities in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Under the bylaws of the National
League of Cities, each direct member city is entitled to cast votes through its designated vot-
e ing delegates at the annual business meeting.
To be eligible to cast the City's votes each voting delegate and alternate voting delegate must
be designated by the City prior to October 10. Voting is not allowed by proxy.
Staff is recommending that the Council designate the above mentioned individuals as the vot-
ing and alternate voting delegates so as to afford Hopkins the opportunity to vote on matters
presented at the business meeting.
Primary Issues to Consider
0 Are the individuals proposed in keeping with the Council's wishes?
