ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR HEALTH INSPECTOR
prooosed Action
The Building Inspection Department recommends the adoption of the following
motion: Move aooroval of the 1993 contract with Immanuel F. Roesler to
provide orofessional sanitation services
By approving this resolution, the City Council will be continuing professional
services with the current health inspection for 1993. The contract grants Mr.
Roesler a 2% cost of living adjustment retroactive to January 1, 1993.
Overview
The contract with the city health inspector expires yearly on December 31st
and must be renegotiated.Mr Roesler's current contract expired December 31,
1992.
A 2% cost of living adjustment has been negotiated and would cover the period
'the contract from January 1, 1993 to December 31, 1993.
(\ order for the city to continue the program of inspection and licensing of
;staurants, hotels, food facilities, and th'e ability to respond to the
~itizen complaints on general health nuisances, it is necessary to maintain a
health inspector.
Hennepin County provides $2800 in funding to the City which is used to pay a
portion of Mr Roeslers salary. The remainder of the funds come from licence
fee's we collect. staff feels it appropriate to renew the. contract at this
time to insure the inspections continue.
Primary Issues to Consider
o What alternatives does the city council have?
Approve the contract for professional services with Mr. Roesler as
presented.
Do not approve the contract and request the city staff renegotiate the
terms of the agreement.
Do not approve the contract and determine that is not appropriate for the
City to continue the Health inspection program.
