APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS
MAETZOLD FIELD STORM SEWER
PROJECT NO. 93-08
Proposed Action:
Staff recommends the following action: "Move that Council approve
plans and s?ecifications regarding the Maetzold Field Storm Sewer
project and adopt Resolution 93-58 authorizing bids to be taken."
Ov rview.
The 1993 C.I.P. identifies Maetzold Field phase one improvements
to be preceded by a complete upgrading of the fields storm sewer
system. The fields storm sewer system is an integral component
of. the city's overall storm sewer system thereby requiring it to
be maintained in good working order. The city's consultant on
this project, RCM Associates, has prepared plans and
specifications for a project to completely upgrade the existing
storm sewer system as well as add drainage features for the new
park facilities that will be constructed in 1993 and 1994.
Primary Issues to consider
o Why is there a need to upgrade the storm sewer system?
The existing system is undersized, and is severely
deteriorated. The system needs to be upgraded to correct
these problems. Phase one of the park improvements are
scheduled to be constructed in August and September of this
year. The storm sewer improvements should therefore be
completed before the new park facilities are constructed.
o What is the cost and source of funding?
The storm sewer project is estimated to cost $110,000.
Funding would be through the city's storm sewer utility
fund.
