CR 93-090 Approve Plans Maetzold Field . June 7, 1993 \ "\ y 0 :m: o P K \ ~ council Report No. 93-90 APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS MAETZOLD FIELD PARK FACILITY IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT NO. 91-16 Proposed Action: staff recommends the following action: "Move that Council approve plans and specifications reqardinq the Phase one Park Facility Improvements for Maetzold Field and adopt Resolution 93-57 authorizing bids to be taken." Overview. The 1993 C.I.P. identifies Maetzold Field as receiving park facility and storm sewer improvements in 1993. The City Council and the Park Board have previously reviewed and approved the draft plans. The Park Board also held an information hearing on the project whereby all residents within a one block radius were invited to attend the meeting. Final plans and specifications have been prepared for this project addressing concerns that were voiced from the city Council, Park Board, and adjacent residents with regard to the draft plans. Primary Issues to Consider o Why is there a need for the new park facilities? The results form the 1989 bond referendum indicated that there was support to reconstruct Maetzold Field into a more useful park area. The Recreation department and the Hopkins Little League Association have also indicated that they are in need of more prime space for their activities. The project is also consistent with the capital improvements prioritized by the Hopkins Park Board. o What are the costs and source of funding? The phase one improvements are estimated to cost $154,000 and will be funded with general revenue. Phase 2-4 in years 1994-96 will also be funded with general revenue. All storm sewer costs associated with this project will be funded with storm sewer utility funds. sup~ortinq Information. o Map o Resolution No. 93-57 ,!"
