September 30, 1993 ~ Council Report 93-173 GAMBLING LICENSE APPLICATION BY VFW POST 425 Prooosed Action Staff recommends that the Council approve the following motion: Move that the Hopkins City Council adopt Resolution #93-111 approving the gambling license application ofVFW Post 425, Adoption of this motion will allow the application to be considered by the Minnesota Department of Gaming. Overview VFW Post 425 has requested a renewal of their gambling license for 1993. This license allows them to conduct gambling, including bingo, at 34 10th Avenue South. PrimarY Issues to Consider . Does this application meet the criteria of the City's gambling policy? I Yes. . . Has the organization conducted its past gambling activities in accordance with state and local laws? Yes, VFW Post 425 was notified of the proposed changes to the City's Lawful Gambling policy after their application was received by the City. They did not deliver any audit or expenditure information in time for inclusion in this report. Alternatives: 1. Approve Resolution #93-111. This will result in the application being considered by the Department of Gaming. 2. Approve Resolution #93-111 contingent upon receipt of audit and expenditure information. Upon receipt and review of the audit and expenditure information, staff will forward Resolution #93-111 to the State. This will result in the application being considered by the Department of Gaming. 3. Do not approve the Resolution. This will result in the Department of Gaming turning down the license. . ( , . ~ CITY OF HOPKINS Hennepin County, Minnesota RESOLUTION NO. 93-111 WHEREAS, VFW Post 425 has been an integral part of the Hopkins Community, and WHEREAS, VFW Post 425 has applied for a gambling license to conduct lawful gambling in 1993, and WHEREAS, VFW Post 425 has conducted gambling activities in accordance with state law and Hopkins city policy, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOL YED, that the City Council of the City of Hopkins hereby approves VFW :e Post 425 Premises Permit Renewal application.
