CITY OF HOPKINS
MEMORANDUM
DATE: February 6, 1992
TO: Mayor and city council ~
FROM: Lee Gustafson, Public Works Director ~
,
SUBJECT: 1992 Pavilion usage by "Music in the Park"
. This memo is intended to update Council of the procedures H.C.P.
will use this year for "Music in the Park". The procedures are
basically the same as last year. This consisted of H.C.P.
contacting the city by 12:00 p.m. on Thursdays informing us
whether or not they planned to use the Pavilion. The Public
Works department subsequently sets up the stage per H.C.P. 's
direction.
The only issue that needs to be resolved this year is having
someone state that they will guarantee payment of the rental fee
for usage by "Music in th'e Park" . Staff prefers this method
versus having to deal with different organizations each time the
Pavilion is rented, as was the case last year.
Council should be aware that a roller blade league, that the
Pavilion Manager established will be renting the Pavilion at
night, Monday through Thursday, throughout the summer.
Fortunately, the Pavilion Manager was able to get the roller
blade league to agree that they would re-schedule their Thursday
night activities whenever "Music in the Park" needed the
Pavilion. This re-scheduling agreement worked out well for
"Music in the Park" activities this year, however, the schedule
in 1993 may not be as flexible to allow "Music in the Park" to
use the Pavilion without reserving it permanently.
