1992-93 HOPKINS'S PRIORITIES
ProDosed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion Move to
adopt Resolution 92-51 adoptinq 1992-1993 Hopkins
priorities.
Adoption of this motion will establish the top priorities
for City of Hopkins over the next 1 -2 years. Staff will
initiate work programs designed to meet priorities as
established by the council.

The city Council met in aworksession in 'February with the
Department Heads to discuss and prioritize issues and goals
of the city. A list of twenty sev~n goals and issues were
discussed and a process was used to, narrow and prioritize
,those goals to seven attainable goals. While work is
-." progrssingon the priorities which were discussed in
February, the council has yet to formally adopt the
priorities for the community.
Passage of the recommended motion will formally adopt the
priorities for th~ city council and lay the groundwork for
future, staff, budgetary and Council initiatives.

The city council can adopt any goals and priorities it feels
appropriate. Attached to the report are the A and B
priorities as discussed at the February worksession. The
Council may wish to review that list and to adopt additional
priorities or alternative priorities than those suggested.

A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE 1992 . 1993 HOPKINS PRIORITIES
WHEREAS, The Ci~ Council in its duty to provide policy direction for the City,
, met an discussed priorities for the community, and
WHEREAS, The City Council and staff met in February of 1992 to discuss the
needs of the community, and
WHEREAS, The Council wishes to formally establish direction for the community
, through a statement of Hopkins' priorities. '
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL YED by the City Council of the City of
Hopkins that the following issues are the 1992 and 1993 Hopkins Priorities: .
0 Initiate program to maintain and upgrade the Westbrooke I
neighborhoods. "
0 Plan, develop and implement a program to attract and retain business
to Hopkins. '
. 0 Review and define the role of the City in the area of social service
pro~rams and funding.
0 InitIate improvements to the County Road 3 corridor.
0 Review, accept, and prioritize the strategic plan for an economic
development and implementation program for the City of Hopkins
for all types of land uses and targeting of specific sites.
0 Develop/maintain City services while maintaining reasonable tax
rates.
0 Determine the feasibility of redevelopment of the County Public
Works facility and specifically address the possibility of industrial uses
. on the site.
