CR 92-173 Heritage Days Tent Days - Lot 300
e August 14, 1992 Council Report # 92-173
HERITAGE DAYS TENT DANCE - LOT 300
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to
authorize the use of lot 300 for the 1992 Heritage Festival
activities and tent dance,
Adoption of this motion will allow the Hopkins community
Promotions and Hopkins Jaycees to use lot 300 (adjacent to
Downtown Park) for the Heritage Days celebration.
Overview
Prior to the 1992 Mainstreet and Heritage Days festivals,
the City Council considered the use of lot 300 for tent
dances. Council authorized the use of 300 for Mainstreet
Days and Raspberry Festival but asked that the Heritage Days
dance be brought back for further consideration.
- Specific arrangements were made with the merchants
surrounding lot 300 and the parking arrangements seemed to
have been successful in alleviating problems previously
associated with dances on lot 300. Additionally, complaints
raised due to noise were less at the lot 300 location than
in Central Park.
Based on the above, staff is recommending that lot 300 be
utilized for the Heritage Festival celebration. It may also
be prudent to limit the dance to midnight which will reduce
the number of complaints received by the city.
Primary Issues to consider
0 What options exist for the City Council?
The City council has the free choice of approving, denying
or altering the conditions upon which lot 300 is utilized
for celebrations.
