REvisION OF LICENSE AND PERMIT FEES
Proposed Action
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the following motion: Move to approve Resolution number
92-78 revising license and permit fees.
This action will revise several fees that the City of Hopkins charges.
Overview
'Section 1000.05 authorizes the Hopkins City Council to "modify, amend, add, or delete .,. fees and charges by
the adoption of a resolution". Staff is recommending that several fees that the City is currently charging be
revised. Most of these revisions are increases. Fees. are being increased in order to generate sufficient
revenue to regulate the activity for which the fee is charged. The new fees will go into effect upon approval
of Resolution #92-78. Changes in yearly fees will be made for 1993 licenses.

Which fees are being revised?
The following fees are being modified:
Vending Machines are being changed to $15.00/year to bring them into conformance with state law.
Bicycle license is being changed to $10.00 to reflect actual costs.
Water well processing fee of $ 5.00 is part of the new ordinance regarding wells.
Water treatment device and Water service inspection fee are being increased to $25.00 to reflect the actual
cost of performing the inspections.

Fees are being raised for the inspection of rental units to reflect the actual cost of performing the inspections.
These fees have not been raised for more t~ 3 years.
Multiple dwelling rental registration fee increased to $25.00/year from $20.00/year.
Multiple dwelling rental per unit fee increased to $ 2.50/year from $2.00/year.
Two family dwelling rental fee increased to $20.00/year from $15/year.
Single family dwelling rental fee increased to $20.00/year from $15/year.
Rooming house (4 or more units) increased to $25. DO/year from $20/year.
The cost for copies of the City Code Book and Zoning Code book are being changed to $25.00 to reflect the
actual cost of copying these documents. The cost of a copy of the City Charter is being changed to $15.00
for the same reason.
Police Reports. The following fees are being either changed or instituted to recover the costs associated with
these information requests. As always, public information can be reviewed at no cost if the individual is
willing to come to City Hall. .
Report copies - 2 pages - $ 5.00, additional pages - $ .25
Summary of Computer reports - $25.00/one week's data
Special computer reports - $SO.OO/one week's data, additional weeks.. $25.00
Clearance letter.. $ 5.00
Fingerprint card - $ 5.00
Video Tapes - $50.00

WHEREAS, the Hopkins City Council has authorized by ordinance the charging of fees for
a variety of licenses and permits, and
WHEREAS, the City Code allows the City Council to establish fees by resolution,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Hopkins
hereby adopts the following fees: .
