Council adoDt Resolution 92-91. Resolution For Award of Bid.
First Street North Storm Sewer. City proiect 92-03.
Overview.
Council at its October 6 meeting was presented final plans for a
small storm sewer project on First Street North between 7th and
8th Avenues. This project proposes to intercept storm water from
the existing 33" pipe in the alley of the 100 Block
between 7th and 8th and connect to the newly installed 42ft trunk
main on 7th.

Engineer'S Estimate
· Staff recommendation
RCMAssociates has checked the bids and finds no
irregularities. Palda and Sons is a qualified bidder with
the equipment and manpower to complete the project. Staff
concurs with RCM and recommends award of bid to palda & Sons
at a cost of $38,039.00.
· Timetable
The contractor has indicated that should the bid be awarded
to his firm, he is prepared to begin construction on October
26 and have the job completed within a week. To facilitate
construction~lst Street North between 7th and 8th Avenues
will need to be closed and traffic detoured onto Mainstreet.
Residents will be notified about detours and the loss of the
alley access point off 1st street North.

Six (6) bids were opened on October 19, 1992 for the above referenced project.
After review of the bids submitted to the City of Hopkins, Palda and Sons,
Inc. of St. Paul, Minnesota has submitted the lowest responsible bid.
PaIda's bid of $38,039.00 was approximately 13 percent below the final
engineers estimate based on final Quantities.
A summary of the six bids received is attached. We, therefore recommend
that the City a ward the project to Palda and Sons, Inc. in accordance with
their proposal form.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOPKINS, MINN~SOTA,
that the bid of palda and Sons, Inc. in the amount of $38,039.00
is the lowest responsible bid for the installation of storm sewer
in First street North between 7th and 8th Avenues, city Project
92-03, and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and
directed to enter into a contract with said bidder for and on
behalf of the City.
