CALL TO ORDER
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Hopkins City Council was
held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 6:41 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall,
1010 1st Street South.
Mayor Hanlon called the meeting to order with Council Members Garrido, Goodlund,
Hunke and Kuznia attending. Others attending included City Manager Mornson, Assistant
City Manager Casella, City Clerk Domeier, Police Chief Johnson, Fire Chief Specken,
Finance Director Bishop and City Attorney Riggs.
ADOPT AGENDA
Item III.1. Craft and Crew Update on Pub 819 Operations was removed from the agenda
and rescheduled for January 21, 2025.
Motion by Kuznia. Second by Hunke.
Motion to Adopt the Agenda.
Ayes: Garrido, Goodlund, Hanlon, Hunke, Kuznia
Nays: None. Motion carried.
PRESENTATIONS
III.2. Police Department Staff and Capacity Assessment Update from the Axtell
Group; Johnson
Police Chief Johnson along with Todd Axtell and Rob Thomas with the Axtell Group
provided an update on the Police Department Staff and Capacity Assessment.
Brief discussion was held about ways to leverage resources through grant and
collaboration with other police departments opportunities. Mr. Axtell commented on the
Hopkins Police Department culture and how it helps retain police officers and make them
feel valued. Additional discussion was held regarding the potential service levels needed
with the impending opening of the southwest light rail knowing that the Metro Transit
police are experiencing the same staffing level concerns.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the City Council, and upon a motion by
Garrido, second by Hunke, the meeting was unanimously adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
