AWARD BID
RANDOM REPAIR OF SIDEWALK
Council Report No. 98 - 102
Proposed Action.
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move that
Council adopt Resolution 98 -39, Resolution for Award of Bid,
Random Repair of Sidewalk.
Overview.
Engineering has returned to zone 3 of the four designated .
sidewalk inspection zones and completed a review of nee.ded
repairs. A bid opening was held June 25 and this report concerns
that bid process.
Contractor Bid
Ron Kassa Construction $24,144.05
Gunderson Brothers Cement $27,911.50
Thomas and Sons $29,991.20
Engineer's Estimate $25,613.00
O Repair budget
Although the low bid is under the engineer's estimate, it
is still approximately 20o higher than the City's budgeted
$20,000 for sidewalk repairs. Concrete prices continue
their escalating rise and zone 3 repairs were more than
anticipated.
O Recommendation
Staff has reviewed all bids and finds them in order.
Staff has reviewed Ron Kassa Construction credentials and
references. Based on this as well as Kassa's past work
record with Hopkins, staff recommends award of bid to Ron
Kassa Construction.
