Council Report 98 -177
AUTHORIZATION TO EXECUTE SUB -GRANT AGREEMENT
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve Resolution 98 -078
authorizing Lori Yager, Finance Director to execute the Sub -Grant Agreement with the
Division of Emergency Management in the Minnesota Department of Public Safety for the
program entitled Infrastructure Program for FEMA 1225 DR- MINNESOTA.
Adoption of this motion will result in staff forwarding the appropriate documentation to
the Minnesota Division of Emergency Management for completion of the Sub -grant
Agreement.
In May and June of 1998 the City of Hopkins was recognized by FEMA as a national disaster
area due to the amount of damage incurred by severe storms. There was a tremendous amount
of cleanup performed by public works. Since than we have applied for a Sub -grant through the
Division of Emergency Management for Federal Emergency Management Assistance.
The costs involved in the clean up were reported at $12,701. We have been granted to receive
$9,175 from the federal government and $1,764 from the state government for a total grant of
$10,939.
At the writing of this report all costs for cleanup have been incurred.
Primary Issues to Consider
The entire federal share of the grant will be issued as soon as the Sub -grant Agreement has
been fully executed.
The balance of the grant will be issued upon completion of the "Project Completion and
Certification Report".
