CR 99-158 Approve Final Payment Storm Sewer Projects 97-08 & 97-11 6th Ave N & Hopkins Plaza/Home Center Site CITY OF ~ November 3,1999 HOPKINS Council Report 99-158 Approve Final Payment Storm Sewer Projects 97-08 and 97-11 6th Avenue North and Hopkins Plaza/Home Center Site Proposed Action. Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move that Council adopt Resolution 99-80, Resolution Accepting Work and Ordering Final Payment, Projects 97-08 and 97-11. Overview. The contractor has completed all work associated with storm sewer projects along 6th Avenue North, near the Eisenhower Community Center, and between Hopkins PlazaIHopkins Home Center sites. The contractor has performed on punch list items to the City's satisfaction. . Primary Issues to Consider. . Accepting work and final payment The contractor has met his contract work obligations. The work is done satisfactorily. The total construction contract cost, including a change order and the final net sum compensating change order, amounted to $655,574.45. By approving final payment Council will have authorized an earlier staff directed change order of $20,51 0.25 and a final compensating change order of $18,700. The compensating order pertains to contract quantities in excess of what was originally estimated and does not reflect any major changes in project scope. . Procedures All closing documents have been submitted. The only outstanding document to execute is the certificate of completion. Staff recommends approval of final payment. . Resolution 99-80 Adoption of this resolution formally acknowledges completion of work, orders final payment, and initiates a specified warranty period on the contract work. Supporting Information. . Resolution 99-80 ~~ James Gessele Engineering Superintendent CITY OF HOPKINS HENNEPIN COUNTY, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION NO. 99-80 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING WORK AND ORDERING FINAL PAYMENT- PROJECTS 97-08 AND 97-11 WHEREAS, pursuant to a written contract signed with the City on April 22, 1998, Northdale Construction Company, Inc. has satisfactorily completed the installation of storm sewer systems, commonly known as City Proj ects 97-08 and 97-11, in accordance with such contract. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HOPKINS, MINNESOTA: 1. The work completed under said contract is hereby accepted and approved. 2. Order for final payment on such contract is hereby ordered, taking the contractor's receipt in full. 3. The specified warranty period on contract work shall commence upon the adoption of this resolution. Adopted by the City Council of the City of Hopkins, Minnesota, this 16th day of November, 1999.
