APPOINTMENT OF MAYOR PRO TEMPORE
Staff recommends approval of the following motion: Move to appoint Council
Member Thompson as the Mayor Pro Tempore.
Overview
The Hopkins City Charter requires that a Mayor Pro Tempore be appointed each
year. The Mayor Pro Tempore acts as the presiding officer and as Acting Mayor of
the Council in the absence of the Mayor.
Primary Issues to Consider
. Who should serve as the Mayor Pro Tempore
Traditionally the Council Member who has served the longest is chosen.
Alternatives
. Appoint Council Member Thompson as Mayor Pro Tempore
. Appoint another Council Member as Mayor Pro Tempore
